Overview:
Believed to have been one of the largest colony ships ever built during the Golden Age. Presumed lost: has become famous in Guardian circles due to the mystery surrounding its passengers and cargo (see below).

Service History:
The Cassini appears to have been lost on its maiden voyage. Its date of departure went unrecorded in the chaos of the Collapse, and some speculate it may not have been recorded at all, or even officially authorized.

Best-guess reconstruction of the events of the Late Collapse suggests the Cassini was used in an attempt to evacuate high-value scientific and military personnel to one of the colonies on Europa.

A partial crew and passenger list has been retrieved from a database in the Cosmodrome in Old Russia, but was evidently compiled in advance of the departure, and therefore is likely inaccurate.

Interestingly, the list appears to have been tampered with, and three passengers' names edited: Julius O., Katherine H. and Aris C.
The motive for such obfuscation can only be guessed at.

Similarly, the cargo manifest lists "4 x AEP (Unstable)", but the meaning of this abbreviation is open to conjecture.

The reported recent discovery and incarnation of a Guardian on the wreck of the Cassini, and their return to the Tower, may shed light on both mysteries.
